family is everything

This wedding was so special for me! First off, so glad we got there after a crazy day of travel! Secondly, it was amazing to watch my little cousin get married to her best friend and get a glimpse of the life she has made with her new family in Ohio.

We spent the whole day at Canopy Creek Farm which is a beautiful wedding venue in Miamisburg OH. The venue is very spread out with a lot of photo opportunity areas! The girls prepped in an upstairs loft in the main barn while the men gathered in a separate room near the stables. The property featured a crystal clear pond and the entire area was surrounded by trees. There were walking paths so guests could explore.

Jessica + Taylor read their vows to each other privately outside the stables and again during their ceremony. The ceremony was outside and the reception was held in the main barn. Outside the reception doors was a patio that looked over the entire property.

The whole day was filled with representations of the love of Jesus Christ. From the loved ones who prayed over them, to the group worship praises. The whole day honored their families who both Jessica + Taylor are very close too. Jessica had incorporated beautiful memorials for her mother and both her and Taylor shared special moments with their daughter.

The whole day was planned out so well down to every last detail. Guests enjoyed a photo booth, a fabulous snack spread, custom drinks, and even a telephone booth where they could leave messages for the bride + groom. You can find an entire list of vendors below the photos.

Guests danced late into the evening and surrounded the couple with a flashy show of sparklers to end the night!

Jessica + Thomas were married in Harvey ND at Faith Lutheran Church. Before the service, the ladies got ready at the Cobblestone Inn. Once done getting ready with the help of her mom, Jessica headed to the north side of town for several first looks with some special people in her life. We found some fall colored trees tucked away.

Thomas met up with us there and surprised Jess with a letter he prepared. It's always fun to surprise the bride! Their first look was beautiful and the nerves were settled once they were together. We explored a few places in town and they were naturals at taking their photos.

We met back up with their very prepared bridal party. We've never seen such a group be so on the ball with the plans! We even beat the rain during all of it!

At their ceremony, everyone was teary eyed while their little family united together with a sand ceremony. At the reception, their bridal party brought the hype and many had wonderful words to share about the newlyweds.

As always, it's an honor to be the memory keeper for all of the small beautiful moments throughout the day. Congratulations to Thomas + Jessica!

Riley + Honor decided travel back to the family farm to have their wedding and it was so beautiful! It was a simple day surrounded with friends and family. The farmyard was the perfect backdrop for a beautiful backyard wedding.

After the wedding, they met at Harvey's Peaceful Valley Golf Course for dinner, golf cart rides, and stories from friends and family.

I am so glad they decided to leave their life in the mountains for just a little bit in order to have the perfect ND fall wedding!

hidden jamestown gem

I had no idea that this place in Jamestown even existed. A great hidden gem. I love photographing at venues where everything is at the same place. It makes the timeline a breeze and provides great photo opportunities because wedding venues are usually built with photographers in mind. I am so excited I had the opportunity to serve Molly + Brock on their wedding day!

The whole day was spent at Hidden River Acres in Jamestown. They have turned the rustic area into a modern wedding venue. Since we didn't have to travel from place to place, we had so much time for great photo opportunities. The women hung out all morning, sharing special moments. Molly made sure she was surrounded by both family and friends as she got ready for the wedding.

The ceremony took place inside one of the older buildings on the property and the reception was in the newly built hall. People shared stories on how Molly + Brock met, as well as held each other while honoring family members who would not be in attendance. Both tears of joy, and sadness were shared. It was a time to honor the past and be excited for the future of the beautiful bride and groom!

hats and jerseys and fun oh my!

What a fun group of people! I always get a little nervous with big bridal parties just because it's a lot of people to manage. This group made it a blast. Santana + George did a great job at adding super fun elements to their day.

We started the day at the Bismarck Hotel to prep and prepare. I loved the color pallet of the wedding. The ladies had personalized hats which I thought were so cool and matched the vibe perfectly.

George did not want to see his bride before the aisle so we got to do some girl only and guy only shots at Sertoma Park. The park had a beautiful green backdrop for the bridal party. Once at the ceremony location, Santana shared special moments with her father, brother and George. George and Santana read letters to each other and prayed together. It was an honor to witness this moment and capture it for them. George was so excited to finally see his bride walking down the aisle.

Once the formal photos were done, the bridal party hopped on a limousine bus and we cruised to Legion Park. We had fun taking photos of the hats and the guys had football jerseys to wear. We got a few moments of them playing football.

At the reception, each bridal party member entered during the 'starting lineups'. We heard some great speeches from the parents, two best men, and two matrons of honor. Before the dance started, the Bride + Groom cut their PB+J sandwich which of course had half and half jelly. One side is strawberry and one side is grape so the bride and groom could have their favorite. Guests came ready to dance the night away. There was even a special appearance from a dinosaur!

Overall, the day was super busy and filled with so many special moments. It was an honor to be part of it!

beautiful family wedding

Mariah + Cory shared a special day with so many friends and family.

We started the day at First Lutheran Church in Harvey getting ready. I love that so many family members were around the entire morning, socializing and enjoying time together. Both Mariah + Cory have a huge support system of people who were encouraging to them throughout the day.

We were able to find some beautiful locations for photos and the weather was pretty much perfect. The church was filled and we were excited to see the couple get married. After the wedding, the wedding party left on a tractor and trailer with confetti cannons and champagne in hand.

The reception and dance were at the Harvey Eagles Club. We packed the place with so much excitement and fun throughout the dinner and dance. Congratulations to the new Bride + Groom!

spring wedding with a view

CHIP + KAYA were married on a beautiful spring day out at the Harvey Shooting Range. We started the day by going between New Image Salon in Harvey where the girls were getting ready and the Cobblestone Inn where we shot detail shots. Once the girls were ready, everyone met at the Cobblestone for some last minute girl time before First Looks. Chip's daughter was the flower girl so she shared some very special moments with Kaya as they got ready.

Due to all of the rain that the Harvey area had gotten in the weeks prior, the view was beautiful with green grass and spring views. Kaya + Chip met out at the shooting range for their First Look and shared private vows. Neither one of them wanted to say their vows first, so they let a game of 'rock, paper, scissors' decide the argument. Both sets of vows were beautifully written and I love learning more about how the couple met and what brought them together.

Guests gathered at the shooting range with a view of the hills and creek. After the ceremony, everyone went to the Harvey Eagles Club for dinner and dancing!

This was the best day to kick off the 2024 wedding season and I am so excited for Chip + Kaya! At the bottom of this post you'll see their full list of vendors!

I have never had a session rescheduled and postponed so many times! It has been so rainy and inconsistent with weather. The day looked like it would have to be cancelled again. There was going to be a short break in the rain in the later afternoon, so we changed our plans and decided to go for it. I drove in the sloppy slime and we ended up getting these PRECIOUS photos. bismarck bound wedding

Cordell + Jerika had a fabulous wedding in Bismarck ND. I love heading to the 'big city' because it gives me a chance to see so many different places.

We started the morning at Luxe Beautique Salon for hair and makeup. Everyone met back up at The Bismarck Hotel for final touches and getting ready. I always love the jewelry details and hair pieces on a wedding day. They add a beautiful touch to get the whole look.

It was a priority for Cordell + Jerika to NOT see each other before the ceremony. VERY tricky but very possible. Instead of doing a 'First Look', we headed to Bismarck's North Dakota Heritage Center for a 'First Touch'. They were able to hold hands around a corner and enjoy a private moment to share. This gave us the opportunity to get some Bridal Party shots outside at some cool locations. We stopped at the Capitol with the men and went inside the Heritage center with the women. Both locations are so bright and light; I highly recommend these locations for anyone getting married in the Bismarck are.

Their ceremony was beautiful where Cordell was finally able to see his bride. I loved how they incorporated their grandfathers and families. We had enough time after the ceremony to head back to the Heritage Center for some amazing photos of the newlyweds.

We spent the rest of the evening at The Bismarck Hotel for dinner and dancing. Harmon Entertainment kept us entertained and moving the entire night.

The day flew by and was absolutely beautiful.

an October winter wonderland

What a fun wedding to be part of! Cole + Shelby probably did not expect a winter wonderland for their October wedding. But, that didn't stop everyone for having a blast!

We started the day at their home where Shelby made this beautiful door backdrop for a lot of the detail and prep photos. Cole + Shelby shared their first look out by the lake. Even though it was cold, we were able to break up the time and still get great shots outside. The entire bridal party met us out at the lake and were such troopers in the cold weather.

We decided to head back to the church for family formals and to warm up before the ceremony. After the 'I Dos', we all headed to the family farm for a fabulous reception in their shop. What. A. Party! All of the family moments were so special and the crowd was ready to dance all night!

Such an honor to be part of it.

fall wedding in the woods

The Lake Metigoshe area is so near and dear to my heart. I was SO EXCITED to be able to do a wedding up there. Straight north of Bottineau ND you'll feel like you've entered an enchanted woodland. The preparation and reception areas were held at The Lakehouse. We headed just a short drive over to the A-frame chapel for outdoor photos and the ceremony. Scroll to the bottom to see the whole list of vendors.

The morning was filled with prep time and special moments between parents and their soon-to-be married kids. Gifts, hugs, and tears were all exchanged. Ashley + Brandon had a special First Look that included a Wedding Day Scent that they had picked out for each other.

During the ceremony, Ashley + Brandon were given a toolbox. Each bridal party and family member brought them a tool and had a moment with them to give some encouragement and advice. Before exchanging rings, Ashley + Brandon passed their rings around to family members. Each family member held the rings and said a prayer for the bride and groom before they exchanged them with each other.

The reception was beautifully decorated at The Lakehouse and guests were allowed to step out onto the upper deck to take in the view of the lake.

a lucky rainy day wedding

A day of rain can't stop us from having a good time! Even with the weather, Trevor + Jenna had an amazing wedding day. We started the day at the Cobblestone in Devils Lake ND. The girls had a blast getting ready. At one point they were pumping the jams and reminiscing on Bachelorette Party photos. The guys were getting ready at the same location so it was a fun dip and doge trying to keep the groups from seeing each other.

Jenna had some First Looks with all of the important people in her life. After sharing some special moments with her mom getting the final touches together, she shared a First Look with her dad, grandpa, bridesmaids, and groomsmen. Those moments are some of the best.

Due to the rain, we changed course and headed to the Masonic Temple in Devils Lake for all of our indoor portraits. It ended up being a great option.

Before the ceremony there was a five minute break in the rain and we used up every second of it for a few outdoor pictures. We had about five minutes max before another down pour.

Both the ceremony and reception took place at the Memorial Building in Devils Lake and everyone had a great time. I loved the way Trevor + Jenna incorporated their family and loved ones who have passed on. It was such a priority of the day which made it even more special.

can you believe this is north dakota

I seriously cannot believe that these places are in Bismarck ND. I was completely amazed by the choices of locations here.

First we went to the hiking and bike paths that are off the beaten path. There is so much room to explore right by the river. I loved how George + Santana incorporated props and fun outfits.

If you're ever in the Bismarck area, you for sure need to check out Kimball Bottoms. We got to the parking area and I thought we had arrived but then we loaded up into one vehicle and trekked further into the forest. There are miles and miles of sand where people can tear around on. We had so much fun playing in the sand. When we were done, I looked at them and said - how well do you love your outfits? They kind of looked at me. How about we play in the water too?! Such a fun decision. It was freezing water but they were troopers and soaking wet at the end.

We totally made the most of it and I loved every second of it.

Maria + Lance had a beautiful wedding ceremony in Spearfish SD several weeks ago. In order to celebrate with all of their friends and family back home, they had another reception at Steichen Farms.

Most people know the trend and tradition of a First Look between the bride + groom. A unique twist is the Get Ready Together. Since Maria + Lance shared a First Look in Spearfish, they decided to Get Ready Together which was so fun! Everyone got all dressed up again to party a second time. Who doesn't love that?

The Bridal Party brought the dance moves and everyone had so much fun playing games, and enjoying conversations with friends and family.

Lance + Maria had the most beautiful Black Hills wedding at Spearfish Canyon Lodge. It was a dream. It's even more incredible that I get to call this couple family. Maria has been my sister-in-law for a long time and we are beyond excited that she and Lance are husband and wife.

Together, Lance + Maria fell in love with the Black Hills and the Mountains. Throughout their relationship, they've traveled to different national parks and enjoy exploring God's beauty.

They made it a point to present the Gospel to all of their guests at the ceremony which was filled with so much love and happy tears!

We had the best time playing games and dancing well into the evening under the shadows of the hills.

traditional hometown wedding

I love the simplicity of a traditional hometown wedding. Bethany + Tommy's day was focused on the people which I love. Their ceremony took place in Bethany's hometown church in Harvey, ND. Friends and family filled the pews. The musicians who played and sang throughout the service were absolutely phenomenal.

Each bridal party member made them feel so special; we had many happy tears before the ceremony even began. I loved that entire day was filled with family and friends. From the getting ready process, to the party later on, friends and family filled the rooms and filled them with love and support.

The church garden provided a beautiful backdrop. The walk by the river was the most perfect golden. The day was beautiful and the memories will be cherished forever!

I am honored to have been part of this day!

Ashley called me a few hours before the session. "What's the weather doing there?"... as she's driving in a down pour. Perfect warm clear skies with no chance of rain even on the radar. Of course they brought it with them. They came a LONG way to do this session so we were going to get it done! As we drove to each location, it rained. But once we got going it allowed us to get BEAUTIFUL shots at some of my favorite places.

These are my tried and true locations that never fail. The Woods has beautiful greens this time of year and I loved the gray clouds at Penny's Place. We were SO close to getting a lightning shot. It was a little eerie but we powered through and it was worth every second.

I LOVE finding a new location. I don't get to the 'big city' enough to try things out. So when Cordell and Jerika said that I could come to Bismarck for their session, I knew that I HAD to try out a downtown studio.

Thanks to CO - STUDIO for having us. They were great to work with.

It was perfect to have an indoor location option since it was ninety degrees plus that day! I was loving it. Of course after the studio we had to hit up one of the river parks in Bismarck to get some river shots and of course had to get that outdoor June green!

I'm looking forward to their wedding in the fall. I have a feeling that the weather will be polar opposite but we'll have to wait and see.

This spring has been a challenge for location scouting. My 'go to' locations have been filled with snow and mud for months. I've never had a full session in Goodrich so thought why not?

Shelby + Cole were up for anything.

The wind was insane so we kind of just had to go for it. We found a small space near the edge of town that had some trees and was a little bit out of the wind. I always like to have at least one space where it's wide open with lots of options for posing.

Of course we had to stop at the old city jail! Too bad we couldn't get inside.

When I saw this van, I knew we HAD to try something. It was actually the perfect cover from the wind and ended up being really cool. We also stopped in a back area behind the school which gave us a different kind of background.

I am so excited for Cole + Shelby and am so thankful they are allowing us to tag along for the ride!

The FIRST engagement session of the YEAR!! These are my absolute favorite sessions. Preparing for your wedding day can be so stressful, and an engagement session is the perfect excuse to get together, have a date, and enjoy having fun together.

Bill + Hailey had an amazing wedding day. The weather was chilly for November but we made it work to have some beautiful portraits outside. The details were very personal with their family in mind.

We used First Lutheran Church as the preparation area which included a few First Looks with family and friends.

We found some great spots out of the wind for portraits. The couple exchanged their First Look at Centennial Park in Harvey.

The ceremony took place at First Lutheran Church in Harvey.

The reception was at the Eagles Club in Harvey. Bill + Hailey took a lot of time and preparation to make sure family was represented and remembered well at their reception with a lot of photos and details. It was an amazing day and I am so honored I was able to be part of it!

My favorite part about being a photographer is capturing people right where they are at. The Lies family is busy! Another perfect Fall Family Session! This time of year the weather can be so unpredictable, so many sessions get postponed or rescheduled. On days when the weather turns out better than expected, the sessions turn out better than ever!

I love the little WOODS next to our property in the middle of nowhere and I think my clients do too.

The Weinmann Family had a 'not so great' experience with another photo company in the past so I'm sure they were a little nervous to see how this was going to go. Family sessions do not need to be painful. We shuffle through a few different groups, do a few fun things, and then BAM - family session done and great pictures delivered straight to your inbox.

Cody + Kelsey had a great wedding day. We started their day with drizzles of rain showers. We adjusted a few plans but it worked out perfectly. The details were put together so well with fall colors that had a little flare.

The first look location changed due to the rain. The little gazebo in the middle of town created the perfect little cover. We started with a first look with BRIDE + DAD. After, we added the veil and the BRIDE + GROOM got to see each other for the first time that day.

The rain stopped after the FIRST LOOKS so we headed back to the original location. Out by the Carrington Golf Course there are paths lined with beautiful trees. We also found a bridge tucked away. We remained at this location for the rest of the portraits. Family and Wedding Party met up with us there. The trees provided beautiful cover from a few more drizzly showers.

The ceremony took place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington.

The reception was at the County Fair Grounds. They turned this empty barn into the most BEAUTIFUL reception hall. Every detail fit their theme perfectly. And I will never turn down a TACO bar! It was a beautiful evening and I am so excited that I was part of it!

This is a session that I am SO excited to share. I have known Maria since she was about seven years old. She was a spunky little girl who was very overprotective of her big brother (my husband). She is extremely caring, passionate, and driven.

Lance came into our lives a few years ago. This young man balances Maria out so incredibly well. He is more quiet, very loving, and amazingly patient. He is the perfect addition to our family.

Their session started out with an hour rain delay which created the most picture perfect evening. The rain brought the calm. A little mouse incident brought some fun chaos. Every session needs a little flare.

Miranda - Senior 2022

Moments before Miranda's session, our area got a quick little downpour. I love how a fresh rain can really clean up and brighten up all of our locations. First we headed to THE WOODS. The greenery was beautiful.

Miranda is very 'outdoorsy' so all of our locations where perfect for her. We were able to hit up the rustic barn and nearby fields to pull in all of the colors. We hit the sunflowers at the perfect time - bright and beautiful!

Larissa is a senior at Harvey High School! I had so much fun on this shoot.

First, we headed to the sunflowers, which was perfect timing. This was one of the first days where the sunflowers were looking full, and they don't last long. Next, we went to the woods where the light was peaking perfectly through all of the trees.

Let's wish Larissa luck this year and she heads into the sports' seasons. We even got some action shots.

Last, we headed to the Roundhouse. I hadn't been there in a few years and was worried it wasn't in 'photo' condition. After taking some sketchy back roads, we found the little house tucked away in the hills.

This wedding was so UNIQUE! When Alec approached me about taking his wedding photos, he said the theme was totally unconventional. It took me a minute to realize what he meant.

We started their afternoon with some beautiful photos at the ceremony location on a family farm. Once photos were done, they began their reception which involved the best pizza and iced coffee!

At about 10:15pm, their ceremony began overlooking a beautiful hill with the sunset as the backdrop. At the moment they became husband and wife, an amazing firework show lit up the night sky!

It was a perfect night!

I loved this wedding! The 'city' vibe is very different than what I am used to and I LOVED it! We started off at an elegant salon for some bridal photos. We met up with a larger group at an outdoor theater with beautiful greenery.

After the ceremony in the classic cathedral, we headed to the capitol building in Bismarck. Last but not least, we headed to the river to capture the beautiful bridges.

The whole day was smooth and fun! My husband was lucky enough to be in the wedding so we are both very excited for new friends! Let the game nights begin!
